Tegernsee and Schliersee are absolutely highlights of the region. They lie on the edge of the Alps, in contrast to the smaller Spitzingsee, which drains towards the Inn. Until secularization, the economic and cultural center of the region was the Tegernsee monastery, where the legendary beer is still brewed today.
