<p>The Julian Alps (Slovenian: Julijske Alpe; Italian: Alpi Giulie) are a rugged mountain range in the southern limestone Alps in Slovenia (Upper and Lower Carniola) and Italy (Friuli-Venezia Giulia). The highest mountain is Triglav, 2,864 m, which is also the highest peak in Slovenia. It lies at the center of the national park named after it, the only national park in Slovenia, with its particularly diverse flora and fauna.</p> <ul>Known tourist centers in the region: <li>Bled on Lake Bled, a modern seaside resort for walking and water sports enthusiasts in a sheltered location at the foot of the Julian Mountains. </li><li>Bohinj with the Bohinjsko jezero (Lake Bohinj). The extremely beautiful valley offers excellent conditions for outdoor activities in all its facets (mountaineering, climbing, ski touring, cross-country skiing in Pokljuka. </li><li>Kranjska Gora is known as a recreational and winter sports resort. The largest ski jump in the world is located in the municipality of Ratece/Planica (current world record of 239 m, set by Bj°rn Einar Rom°ren in 2005). </li><li>Tarvisio (Tarvisio), a town in the Italian-Austrian-Slovenian border triangle in the Canal Valley. Excellent asphalt roads lead to the Neveasattel (ski area), the starting point for rewarding mountain routes in the Montasch (Montasio) and Cimone ranges. <p>On a scale of 1:25000.
