Description

Wonderful deep snow descents on wide, open spaces - that's what the Allgäu Alps are known for! Thanks to the many lengthy meadows and alpine pastures, they are an ideal destination for ski tourers. The diversity of the mountains offers both beginners and advanced tourers a wide range of possibilities. The Rother ski touring guide "Allgäu Alps and Lechtal" presents the 50 most beautiful ski tours.

Numerous easy pre-alpine tours such as in the Hörnergruppe are included as well as moderately difficult, often already steep destinations in the grass and karst mountains such as the Geißhorn above the Tannheimertal. Around a dozen of the routes presented are challenging, high-alpine mountain tours in the high, great rocky parts of the Allgäu and Lechtal Alps. In addition to well-known routes, there are also quiet, less frequented routes. Each of the 50 ski tours in this tour guide has a precise route description and a map section with the route marked. Furthermore, there is information on requirements, ascent times, avalanche risk and slope directions. This means that the ski tours can be selected specifically to suit the respective conditions.

The routes have been designed to be ecologically sound and in line with the recommendations of the German Alpine Association's (DAV) "Environmentally friendly ski mountaineering" project. For this, this book was the first ski tour guide for the Allgäu to be awarded the "Naturverträgliche Skitouren" seal of approval.

The fourth edition has been updated by Stephan Baur, who will continue the ski guide originally written by the renowned author Dieter Seibert in the future.
